JOHANNESBURG -

After a very public boardroom fight over Dr. Fred Roux's replacement as chairman of the platinum miner, the two parties have agreed to part ways.

In a tightly worded announcement to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, Implats announced the resignation "in good faith".

"This resignation follows discussions in the aftermath of Dr. Roux`s replacement as Chairman. Both the Company and Dr. Roux regret the circumstances and publicity surrounding that event and have agreed to go their separate ways, in good faith, with mutual respect and with no further comment than is contained in this announcement."

After the obligatory thanks for his services the company noted that Roux will be paid "a gratuity of R1,6m for past service which payment does not impose any restraint of trade on him whatsoever."
