JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) -

South Africa's logistics group Transnet [TRAN.UL] said on Tuesday its National Port Authority division was not in talks to build a new coal terminal in the country.

South African industry sources said at a coal conference in Mumbai that a new thermal coal export terminal will be built this year at South Dunes near Richards Bay that could start shipments as early as June. [nSGE6280AP]

"I'd like to confirm that Transnet is not in talks with anyone regarding building a coal terminal in Richards Bay," John Dludlu, a Transnet spokesman said. (Reporting by James Macharia)
