BHP Billiton Ltd/Plc has stopped operations at its Blackwater coal mine in Australia after a fatality.

SYDNEY (Reuters) -

BHP Billiton Ltd/Plc (BHP.AX)(BLT.L) has halted operations at its Blackwater coal mine in Australia after a fatality, the global miner said in a statement.

An employee for a contractor at the mine was fatally injured in a vehicle accident earlier on Friday, BHP said. (Reporting by James Thornhill)
